Middle School Season Update

It’s the month of January and that means that some teams are gearing up for the playoffs and the others will be looking for ways to improve their teams for next year. We were able to catch some of the games after the holidays and we will be providing a full playoff preview on Tuesday. Here are some of the games we were able to check out over the past two weeks. Sego vs Morgan Rd (Girls) January 7th

Final Score: Sego 40 Morgan Rd 13
Game Notes: #45 R. Wright (Sego) led all scorers with 16 points and 8 rebounds. #23 Ravenell (Sego) added 8 points





Sego vs Morgan Rd (boys) January 7th

Final Score: Morgan Rd 44 Sego 35

Game Notes: Morgan Rd led the whole game. Sego made a late run in the fourth with 6 fourth quarter points by #44 Dallas Rodgers. The experience play of Morgan Rd’s guards in #1 Desmond Dunn and #3 Earl Cobb was too much for the Falcons going down the stretch of the game. #1 Desmond Dunn led all scorers with 16 points. #3 Earl Cobb added 10 points. #44 Dallas Rodgers led Sego with 11 points. #10 Zay added 9 points.



East Augusta vs Morgan Rd (boys) January 14th (Playoff Importance Game)
Final Score: East Augusta 35 Morgan Rd 18

Game Notes: This was a must win for both teams to establish themselves a spot in the playoffs. East Augusta is coming into the game with 2 losses and Morgan Rd with just one. East Augusta took an 6-0 lead in the first and held the lead through the duration of the game. Both teams played a zone and used a “slow-down” tempo which resulted in low scoring 14-11 lead by East Augusta heading into the half. East Augusta started to pull away in the fourth led by 6 straight points between #23 Tommy Smith and #33 Curtis Hightower. Morgan couldn’t score late in the fourth, the mustangs only scored 4 fourth quarter points.

Tommy Smith led all scorers and East Augusta with 10 points. Curtis Hightower added 9 points. #3 Earl Cobb led Morgan rd with 7 points. #24 Kahlige Fleglare put in 6 points.



Glenn Hills vs East Augusta (Girls)
Final Score: Glenn Hills 44 East Augusta 18



Tutt vs Morgan Rd (boys) January 21st (Playoff Importance Game)
Final Score: Tutt 44 Morgan Rd 40
J’Zwa Collier (who is just a six grader) led all scorers and Tutt with 15 points. Desmond Dunn led Morgan Rd with 11 points.



Glenn Hills vs East Augusta (Boys)
Final Score: Glenn Hills 58 East Augusta 24
#11 Michael “Meat” Scott and #13 Aaron Williamson led Glenn Hills with 15 points a piece.
